Judge Michael York was elected in the November 2014 general election. His term started in January 2015 and is a 4 year term.

The Court has three full time clerks that insure the office and proceedings are professional, timely, and accurate.
The level of service provided by the Court Clerks are an invaluable asset to Lee County.

Weddings

Judge York performs marriages by appointment in the office and at the location of your choice.
Please contact his office to schedule an appointment (979) 542-3030.
The fee for in office weddings Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm is $75.00
After hours and on weekends in surrounding counties the fee is $150.00
Outside the immediate central Texas area the fee will include additional traveling expenses and will be agreed upon at the time the appointment is made.
The fee for major holidays—such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. is $200.00.
The script and vows will need to be approved before the wedding.
Obtaining A Marriage License
If a couple is applying for a marriage license in Lee County both applicants should go to the Lee County Clerk’s Office located at 843 East Industry Giddings, Texas 78942.
The requirements when obtaining a Marriage License are:
Both parties must be present; Both parties must have a valid state-issued picture ID or a certified copy of their birth certificate; Both parties must be aged 18 or over, or have a parent or guardian present to sign consent; License is not valid for 72 hours after issuance and expires 90 days from date of issuance; and, Cost of license is $72.00.
In the state of Texas, there is a 30-day waiting period after a divorce is final. We can issue the license on the 31st day from the final date. If the applicants are remarrying each other the waiting period does not apply. A marriage license may be purchased in any county in Texas and the couple can get married in any county in Texas. The Wedding Day
On the day of the wedding and before the wedding ceremony takes place it is necessary for the Justice of the Peace to have received the Marriage License and the Fee. The Judge will complete the Marriage License and return it to the County Clerk’s Office to be recorded. Once the Marriage is recorded the Marriage License will be mailed to you by the Clerk’s Office.
